A beautiful example of the Victorians(Late 1880s) use of enamel in jewelry. This exceptional locket which is 1.25 inches in height and width is the most gorgeous shade of robin's egg blue with fine engraving on its face. The engraving is filled with sentiment and expression. There are ivy leaves and forget me not flowers beautifully rendered and in pristine condition. The language of sentiment abounds here. There is one spot on the reverse where there is repair to the enamel near the opening but it is very well done and in no way affects the integrity of the locket. I point this out so there will be no disappointment regarding this area of wear. Otherwise the locket is pristine and is a true statement piece. The closure is tight and the interior frame is intact.
