Antique Hinged 14KT Heart and Diamond Mizpah Ring

Antique Hinged 14KT Heart and Diamond Mizpah Ring
Mizpah rings were popular from the 1850s through the 1880s and mostly produced in England and America. Symbolic and full of sentimentality, these rings were given as love tokens when partners were separated from one another for long periods of time as a way to express their emotional bond. What makes this ring even more special is that the word Mizpah is hidden under a hinged portion at the top of the ring. The ring has the most beautiful hand engraving of forget me not flowers and central to the top is a heart with a rose cut diamond. As good as it gets with the Victorians love of sentiment. I’ve recently had this ring polished and brought back to its original glory. It is truly divine. Slightly rosy 14KT not marked but tested. English in origin. Size 5 but can be easily resized. Hinge of top opens from the left side.
