What is clear is the skill of the artisan who created this mini masterpiece. A true work of art with scales and feathers in polychrome enamel of blue and green and antique diamonds set in the handle of the sword that the griffin is clutching. The eye is set with a cabochon ruby and the top feather is also set with an old cut ruby. The details abound! I converted the piece to a necklace and removed the pin back to bring it into the 21st Century. Set in 14KT gold and suspended from a modern 19 inch 18KT gold chain and jump rings at 18 and 17 for versatility. Not marked but tested 14KT.
